Water Allocation and Accounting

Population and economic growth have created water scarcity in many river basins in Australia and other countries worldwide, often compromising the environmental integrity of rivers and aquifers. Increasing scarcity and competition between economic and environmental water demand requires new and novel approaches to water sharing including water trading and intersectoral transfers of resource. We have extensive expertise in water accounting and modelling of complex water allocation systems that integrate multiple sources with multiple water demands with specific water quality standards. We have deployed our capability in a number of research projects in Australia and internationally that deal with multiple scale water allocation and accounting.
